HarpRoom's Students Perform at Singapore's 54th National Day

The students of HarpRoom were privileged to take part at the 54th National Day of Singapore hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore Manila last August 7, 2019 at the Fairmont Ballroom in Makati City.

The celebration was opened by eight harpists together with eight harps performing the Philippine and Singaporean national anthems. They also performed  Sa Kabukiran, a Filipino folk song, and Home,Singapore's National Day song. They were joined by renowned soprano Stefanie Quintin who wonderfully rendered the songs with her majestic voice.

Singaporean Defence Attaché Colonel De Silva Joe Ronesh sings the Singaporean National Anthem, Majulah Singapura. Ms. Stefanie Quintin follows with her rendition of Lupang Hinirang, the Philippine National Anthem. Both anthems are uniquely accompanied by eight harps played by the students of HarpRoom.

After the performance, the Singaporean Ambassador, His Excellency Gerard Ho made a toast mentioning the wonderful Philippine-Singaporean relations throughout its 54 years of existence. He was followed by the Secretary for Foreign Affairs,Teodoro Locsin, in giving a speech about Singapore's remarkable rise as an economic superpower.

The event was well attended by ambassadors of numerous embassies, the diplomatic community, and representatives of the business sector.

HarpRoom's students as young as seven years old took part in this momentous celebration of South East Asia's most vibrant economic powerhouse, a country we could all be proud of: the Republic of Singapore.

The harp models used in this event are the Hermine, Melusine, Isolde, and Ulysse lever harps from Camac Harps France.
